Pretty soon we won't own anything, and we'll subscribe to everything.
At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volvo announced an SUV Subscription model, starting from $600USD a month. Starting this year, a subscription to the Care By Volvo service will include:
An all-wheel drive XC40 with a turbocharged 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine,
All the things we want but seldom use such as heated front seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic roof, 19-inch wheels, Volvo’s “Premium” and “Vision” trim packages, lane keep assist, collision avoidance assist and adaptive cruise control
24-hour customer service with roadside assistance
Factory scheduled maintenance
Tire and wheel damage protection (to a point)
Personal insurance provided by their chosen insurer Liberty Mutual
If you want something a little more shi-shi, you can go for the $700-per-month option which includes a higher-spec’d R-Design version of the XC40, and adds 20-inch wheels and a Harman Kardon sound system.
We like this idea, and hope more companies start thinking the same way.
